Day 9 -- Teamwork

Group 1 Karine Man 3S (26)
Today we learnt about teamwork and we did several activities which require cooperation with group members. Among all the contests, I love the marshmallow challenge the most since our group was the winner. It was quite challenging discussing how to build up the tower and we thought we would fail the challenge at first. Unexpectedly, we were able to hold the marshmallow securely at the highest height. Through this challenge, I have learnt the importance of teamwork and how good collaboration leads to success.
Also, we had a cultural night and cooked some dishes that represent Hong Kong for our counsellors. My group was in charge of cooking, and we were delighted that we got the chance to use the utensils and apparatus provided to serve others. The dishes were particularly delicious, probably because we did not have any Chinese cuisine in the past week.

Group 2 Agnes Yu 3S (32)
The theme of today is teamwork. We played a lot of fun games including Pool Noodle Pick Up and Marshmallow Challenge which required teamwork. Through these games, especially the Egg Drop Challenge, I understood the importance of communication.
We also had the culture night today. There were several tasty Chinese cuisines. I cooked enoki mushroom in beef rolls. Although the process of cooking was tiring, the food tasted nice, which made me feel satisfied. I hold high respect for the chefs who cook us delicious food every day and I have learnt to appreciate the food provided for us more since then.

Group 3 Cherrie Hon 3T (17)
Today I did a fitness exercise that improved my flexibility and endurance. We also made a craft by selecting pictures from the magazine and sticking them on a piece of paper. However, the most impressive part of today has to be the Culture Night.
We enjoyed the Chinese dishes, presentation about Hong Kong and the traditional games. I really relished playing electric shock and whisper challenge as I have not tried it before. I was fortunate enough to have helped with preparing the beef mushroom rolls, which offered me the experience of cooking dishes in the Mercato’s kitchen and interacting with the chef. We were glad that the counselors are now more familiar with the Chinese culture.

Group 4 Cherrie Ho 3T (16)
The theme today is teamwork. I have gained some insights through the lessons and activities. Good teamwork is about helping others at the right time and knowing when to ask for help. Building a strong team requires valuing what others have to say, accepting advice, being a good listener, and knowing your vision.
Our culture night also added lustre to our day. We prepared some Hong Kong food for our counselors and also a presentation to introduce Hong Kong. We also played some games with them such as the whisper challenge and electric shock. It was an engaging cultural-exchange experience!

Group 5 Elliar Cheung 3P (6)
This is our first day again back to Brescia.
We started the day off with a series of games. The first one starts with the marshmallow game where each team strives to hold the marshmallow by using spaghettis. This game is super difficult as the spaghettis stilts themselves are already difficult to stand by their own. The next game is the classical egg drop challenge. Many of our teams surprisingly managed to keep our eggs “alive” (un-cracked). Both games require firm teamwork which very much strengthened the bond between each team member, despite the arduous progress in making it through. We then have “Dream Collage” after lunch. It is basically to scramble different pictures from magazines and paste them onto a card paper, indicating our own dreams and wishes.
Culture Night was coming and it was time for us to prepare. My group did the work of preparation, and to be honest it was pretty strenuous yet worth it all. It is so rewarding to see our counselors enjoying our food and as well as savoring our own at the end. We also played games such as the whisper challenge and electric wire after our dinner. It was a great fun time for all of us, especially our counselors.
In an overall view, today is definitely one of the most meaningful days for everyone to work with each other and to bring ourselves good results.

Group 6 Valerie Lam 3T (21)
Our topic for today was teamwork and we experienced through games such as the marshmallow challenge. We leant the being a team must be a two-way route and as a leader, he or she should be a team player, to gain trust and confidence from the teammates.
In the afternoon, we joined the boot camp. Although it was tough and tiring, we understood that it’s essential to work out and sweat out everyday, to put our body in a healthy condition.
After that, we were busy preparing our culture night dinner. Our group were responsible for preparing mango pomelo sago dessert. The preparation for it was quite complicated. However the outcome was very satisfying and rewarding. It was very delicious!

Group 7 Karen Tang 3A (25)
Today was the first day after our Niagara Falls trip. We played a lot of games in the morning such as the marshmallow challenge, noodle pool challenge and egg drop contest. All of these interesting games helped us to understand the importance of teamwork. After lunch, we created a dream collage for ourselves by picking the stuff we love from books and magazines to decorate a photo frame. And the most memorable event of today was the culture night! We shared with our counselors the culture of Hong Kong and played some fun games with them. It's a bit tiring for us but we enjoyed the day so much.

Group 8 Charmaine Li 3A (19)
Today was a hectic day, with the Marshmallow Challenge, Pool Noodle Pick Up, and the Egg Drop Contest packed in the morning.  These interesting activities helped us understand the importance of teamwork, and that a leader should inspire people so that the team will work hard together to achieve their common goal, a good leader should also recognize each person’s special talent and be a part of the group in order to build a strong team.  The highlight of the day is the culture night and dinner, we prepared spring rolls such as appetizer, dumplings and Enoki mushroom beef rolls as the main dish, and the mango pomelo sago as dessert, we had a lot of fun, we learnt more about the differences between Canada and Hong Kong, too! It is such a fruitful and meaningful day!!

Day 5 -- Understanding Differences

Group 1 Samantha Wong 3S (30) Canada is a beautiful country with rich traditions and cultural heritage. Today, we went to the Fanshawe Pioneer Village. We experienced different activities such as feeding roosters, trying out the traditional way of printing, and processing wool into yarn. It was meaningful because we would not be able to have these experiences in Hong Kong. We were also very lucky and blessed with the fine weather during our visit We got on the bus just right before it started pouring heavily. There was a power suspension in the university as cables were damaged by fallen trees in the thunderstorm. We had to take cold showers. But this experience was unique! We understood that hot water supply is very precious and we should try our very best to conserve environment in order to ensure enough water supply for everyone on earth. Group 2 Janice Wong 3L (31) On the fifth day in Canada, we started off our day with a swimming session. We played games and had lots o

Day 6 -- Girls CAN & Water Day

Group 1 Eva Cheung 3S (5) Today was such a hectic but fun day. One of the best parts was meeting some successful women in different types of professions, such as engineering and sports. Getting a chance to communicate and to learn from them was really a valuable experience which I would never forget. Then, we went to the Sunfest in the downtown area which was quite crowded. There were lots of food and market stalls selling a large variety of food and products. I learned more about the Canadian culture and got the chance to interact with more local people. They are always nice and helpful. Group 2 Gigi Cheng 3S (2 ) The Sunfest was absolutely memorable to me, as we were able to experience the cultural diversity in Canada through tasting various kinds of scrumptious Canadian snacks and other delicacies from different parts of the world. But what really inspired me today was the Girls CAN rotation stations activity. Listening to the personal experiences of different female leade
