Day 3 -- Confidence & Self-esteem

Group 1 Karine Man 3S (26)
The main themes of today are confidence and self-esteem. Confidence is the feeling or belief that one can rely on something.
In the morning, we went to the sport and recreation center for a swimming lesson. The swimming lesson turned out unexpectedly relaxing and fun as we played some interactive water games.
The most unforgettable part of the day was the ‘’Confident Panel’’. Some guest speakers shared their own experiences about how to boost one’s confidence. Their sharing was extremely inspiring and motivational. Listening to their stories made me learn more than what the counsellors simply taught.
Last but not the least, we also made a photo frame which included encouraging words from our groupmates. Those words would definitely lift us up when we are in the midst of hardships.

Group 2 Agnes Yu 3S (32)
Today, we made a pretty picture frame. Our friends wrote down words of encouragement for us in the frame. It helped us to build up our self-esteem and confidence. Some guests visited Brescia to give us some useful tips on building our self confidence. We all consider the guests as role models and would like to be a strong and confident woman like them when we grow up. At night, we all visited a large shopping mall where we shopped in a supermarket and built a teddy bear in a workshop, which was really fun and exciting. Today was such a meaningful day!

Group 3 Cherrie Hon 3T (17)
We participated in a lot interesting events today. The most impressive thing of today was swimming with my classmates and counsellors. We played ball games in the water. At the beginning, I thought the swimming lesson will be harsh but the result turned out very different. I had a great time and an opportunity to interact with the counsellors. We played a game named ‘squirt’ in the afternoon which trained our awareness and attentiveness because we had to react quickly when the counsellor pointed to me. We also went shopping at Masonville Mall. Through today’s activities, not only did I learn how to build up a sense of confidence and self-esteem, I also realized the cultural difference between Hong Kong and Canada during the shopping - that the salespersons here are more relaxed, but enthusiastic and sincere.

Group 4 Cherrie Ho 3T (16)
It was our third day in Canada and my favourite part of today’s program was shopping in Masonville Mall. There are a lot of shops and I bought souvenirs for my mum, grandma and myself! It was a thrilling and new experience to make our own purchases independently in an overseas shopping center.
The theme of today’s lesson was confidence and self-esteem. We learned that confidence is the absolute foundation from where our self-esteem develops. I was much convinced by my counsellors of the importance of boosting self-confidence, fostering self-respect as well as maintaining a healthy mind. The guest speaker in the confidence panel also inspired me to seize every opportunity to learn and improve myself.

Group 5 Elliar Cheung 3P (6)
It's the third day in Canada where we had refreshing experience. We started the day off with swimming (the first time here) and had a fun time playing games in water. After that, there was a lecture on the theme of “confidence and self-esteem”. It is an intriguing topic and vital to personal growth, particularly that of young adults like us. We learnt that trusting and reflecting on oneself, and how one is treated are reciprocal.
We also had a confidence panel session with professional guests who gave us valuable advice on how to cope with our insecurity and rebuild our confidence. The activity of decorating picture frames is another highlight today. We wrote compliments on each other’s frames. It was a meaningful activity for us to show our appreciation.
Last but not least, we relished shopping in Masonville Mall and having dinner at the food court there. It was a spectacular day filled with various activities, during which we explored more. We were also glad to have received warm and empowering messages from our fellow classmates.

Group 6 Valerie Lam 3T (21)
Confidence is an essential quality of a leader. It is a key to success and leadership. We had a confidence panel session with four successful women. The content on the significance of confidence and their sharing were simply inspiring. I have definitely become more confident and I feel more empowered after this session.
Then we made picture frames inside which there were compliments written by our friends. It was an interesting activity that made us know each other better and fostered our mutual bonding and relationship with each other. It was truly a rewarding day.

Group 7 Karen Tang 3A (25)
On the third day of the tour, we had our first swimming session here. We enjoyed the time with our classmates and the counsellors. After that, there was a lesson on the importance of confidence in leadership. We had the opportunity to talk to several special guests, who shared their life experience with us and answered our questions. It was amazingly inspiring. After that, we each made a picture frame, on which people signed and wrote some encouraging words.
Then came the shopping time we had been looking forward to. We went to Masonville Mall to shop and we had a lot of fun there! It was a fantastic day.

Group 8 Sharon Li 3A (20)
Today is the third day of the summer camp, and it was really a tiring day. This morning, we went swimming at Thompson Rec Centre and it was extremely enjoyable. We changed and I couldn’t wait to jump into the cool water. After a while, we played some ball games which I enjoyed it very much. Comparing to the swimming lessons at School, the swimming session was more relaxing as we do not have to swim laps continuously. Besides, the counsellors are all very friendly and nice so we get along with each others easily during the game. At noon, we attended a talk given out by four special guests, they shared their experiences and ways to build up confidence with us which i found that it was extremely useful and applicable to us in order to further boost our confidence. These ideas and advice all emphasis the needs of confidence that are required to be a successful leader. My favourite part of today was making the picture frames, since we had the opportunity to write compliments on each of the group mates’ picture frames, I felt more confident and encouraged after reading those and I would like to improve my character. It was definitely a fruitful day.

Day 5 -- Understanding Differences

Group 1 Samantha Wong 3S (30) Canada is a beautiful country with rich traditions and cultural heritage. Today, we went to the Fanshawe Pioneer Village. We experienced different activities such as feeding roosters, trying out the traditional way of printing, and processing wool into yarn. It was meaningful because we would not be able to have these experiences in Hong Kong. We were also very lucky and blessed with the fine weather during our visit We got on the bus just right before it started pouring heavily. There was a power suspension in the university as cables were damaged by fallen trees in the thunderstorm. We had to take cold showers. But this experience was unique! We understood that hot water supply is very precious and we should try our very best to conserve environment in order to ensure enough water supply for everyone on earth. Group 2 Janice Wong 3L (31) On the fifth day in Canada, we started off our day with a swimming session. We played games and had lots o

Day 6 -- Girls CAN & Water Day

Group 1 Eva Cheung 3S (5) Today was such a hectic but fun day. One of the best parts was meeting some successful women in different types of professions, such as engineering and sports. Getting a chance to communicate and to learn from them was really a valuable experience which I would never forget. Then, we went to the Sunfest in the downtown area which was quite crowded. There were lots of food and market stalls selling a large variety of food and products. I learned more about the Canadian culture and got the chance to interact with more local people. They are always nice and helpful. Group 2 Gigi Cheng 3S (2 ) The Sunfest was absolutely memorable to me, as we were able to experience the cultural diversity in Canada through tasting various kinds of scrumptious Canadian snacks and other delicacies from different parts of the world. But what really inspired me today was the Girls CAN rotation stations activity. Listening to the personal experiences of different female leade
