Day 7 & 8 -- Niagara Falls Trip

Group 1 Sarah Chow 3S (7)
Over this weekend, we went on an excursion to the Niagara Falls, and rode on the Hornblower to take a closer look at the falls. Although the water from the falls splashed all over us, we were all amazed by the magnificent beauty of them and found it worthwhile to be soaked.
After the Journey behind the Falls, we went to the ‘Oh Canada Eh!’ dinner show, which features a great variety of Canadian songs, and also some local jokes which are sometimes incomprehensible. However, it was a good experience overall.
The next day we had a rare experience at the Butterfly Conservatory as we learnt how to let a butterfly land on our hands. We then we went shopping at the outlet mall and ended our day back at Brescia planning for the Culture Night to be held the next day.

Group 2 Alice Tam 3S (28)
During the weekend, we visited different tourist spots and learnt more about Canadian culture. On Saturday, we went to the renowned Niagara Falls, where we had a boat tour and a journey behind the falls. The views there are simply magnificent and unbeatable.
Later that night, we watched the entertaining 'Oh Canada Eh!' dinner show while we were being served mouthwatering dishes. After such a memorable night, we went to the Niagara Park’s Butterfly Conservatory to admire over a thousand species of beautiful butterflies, followed by shopping at the Outlet Mall. Although it was quite a tiresome weekend, it was definitely worth it.

The most impressive part of the trip this weekend was the visit to the Niagara Falls, which are way more spectacular than I had expected. To my surprise, the falls are incredibly massive and stunning.
My group-mates and I were thrilled when we were on the Hornblower, for we can could look at the falls closely.
This experience was worth it to us even though we were all soaked after the boat ride, as there are no falls in Hong Kong as massive as the Niagara Falls. We also learnt the importance of conserving our nature so that our next generation will still be able to enjoy the fantastic scenery of the falls in the future.

Group 4 Chloe Sit 3U (28)
The Niagara Falls Weekend Trip was certainly the highlight of our trip so far. On Saturday, we had lunch in the vibrant streets of Clifton Hill, took the Hornblower boat ride which allowed us to sail close to the falls and take in the breathtaking misty air, and went on a Journey Behind the Falls, where we had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the massive waters behind Niagara Falls through tunnels.
The most impressionable event of the day, however, was undoubtedly the ‘Oh Canada Eh!’ dinner show, which offered us a scrumptious dinner with an impeccable musical performance by the waiters and waitresses themselves. We learned so much about the musical history and culture of Canada, listening to covers of famous Canadian songs both old and new by the performers. We also had the chance to listen to Canada’s melodious national anthem, and take photos with the performers after the show!
On Sunday, we set off for the Niagara Falls Butterfly Conservatory in the morning after breakfast. There were over a thousand butterflies of around 40 species, and a lot of us had the rare chance to let butterflies land on our hands. It was definitely the most memorable part of our day, as none of us had ever seen as big a butterfly conservatory as this before. Not only did we come into close contact with various species of butterflies, such as the common Monarch Butterfly, we also learned the names of the plants and flowers that the butterflies collected pollen from, including the bird’s-nest fern and common milkweed. The Niagara Falls Weekend Trip was undeniably an eye-opening and educational experience for all of us.

We had a very eventful weekend in a new place out of Brescia.
On Saturday we went to the arcade in Clifton Hill, then went nearby to look at the dreamlike scenery. It was inarguably an interesting experience as we don't usually see shops like those in Hong Kong. We then proceeded to the Niagara Falls, and that was where we all had our breaths taken by the beauty of Canada (and America). It was an indescribable feeling when we were riding on the Hornblower, being surrounded by the falls on almost all sides, taking in the wonders of nature. It was also beautiful when American travellers across the border waved to us, which to me, symbolised the friendship and peace between the two nations. We also went to the Oh Canada Eh! Dinner Show where we enjoyed our dinner and the singing and dancing performance. It was the first time most of us went to a dinner show, which made it more intriguing. The performers are very talented and entertaining with everyone engaged with their performance.
On Sunday we went to the Niagara Parks butterfly conservatory. It was a bit scary at first for some people, but we slowly came to like the butterflies and learnt how their lives are as precious as any others. We also went to an outlet mall where we shopped for souvenirs and relaxed. There are rows and rows of retail shops which we all craved for despite the limited amount of money we held in our hands.
Back to Brescia University, we had time after dinner doing preparations for the culture night. We did paper cutting and folding for our decorations, which to some of us, was quite challenging. Yet it’s still great to see all of us working together and doing our duties heedfully.
Overall it was a great experience and we all had great fun.

We visited the famous Niagara Falls on Saturday and had a closer look by riding on the Hornblower and going on the “journey behind the Falls”. All of us were so amazed by the spectacular grandeur. Riding on the Hornblower, we were so close to the Fall; everyone was drenched but it was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In the evening, we enjoyed the “oh Canada eh” dinner show. There were very talented singers and dancers performing live on stage. All of us enjoyed ourselves and loved the lively and light-hearted atmosphere. We joined in most of the singing and the performers were all very friendly and approachable.
Early in the Sunday morning, we went to the butterfly conservatory. I was so surprised by the way how butterflies are bred and raised as well as the vast species. The conservatory is the home of 2,500 butterflies and lush green plants. Butterflies of different colours and sizes flapped their wings past me. The one with black border around the wings rested on my hand for half an hour! And it just refused to go! How cute!

The long-awaited weekend excursion has finally come! It took us more than 2 hours to arrive at the Niagara falls, we first toured around the Clifton Hill, feeling the local Canadian culture. Then we took a ride on the hornblower and a journey behind the fall, getting closer and closer to the spectacular view of the Niagara fall and the beauty of nature. It really impressed and amused me! The Oh Canada Eh! dinner show was also amazing that I learnt more about Canadian traditional music. I enjoyed it very much! On the second day, we visited the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory where over 2,500 butterflies are raised, it was absolutely a huge number to me that might be a bit fearful. But they are so pretty if we take a closer look at them. After that, we went to the nearby outlet mall to shop for souvenirs and gifts before heading back to Brescia University.

The two days at Niagara Falls were incredible. We visited the world-famous Niagara Falls, Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory, Outlet Collection and so much more!
Our two-day excursion began with a long coach ride to Clifton Hill, where we had free time touring around and lunch on our own. Clifton Hill consisted of a large variety of stores selling different Niagara Falls merchandise and local pastries. After that, we boarded the Hornblower to get closer to the Falls. The soft breeze coupled with Niagara Falls water left all of us feeling refreshed and cool. Although we were soaked by the end of the journey, we experienced the power and beauty of nature and that made everything worth it. We also went on a Journey Behind The Falls, where we learnt about the history, miracle and geography of Niagara Falls. We even saw a double rainbow, which was the cherry on top of the icing. At night, we settled in Brock University residence, and it was only then did we realise how lucky we were to be staying in Clare Hall, as the environment there was so much better.
Our second day began with a visit to the Butterfly Conservatory. We learnt about the history of this conservatory, process of producing and raising butterflies and how to pick up butterflies properly. All of us tried picking up several butterflies and succeeded. The beauty and diversity of the butterflies was truly remarkable. I was also marvelled at how friendly the butterflies were, some of them even landed on me! In the afternoon, we had 4 hours of free time to shop at the Outlet Collection of Niagara Falls. There was a large variety of shops, selling everything from clothes to tea. We had a lot of fun exploring different shops and trying on different articles of clothing. We even applied different scents of body butter and hand sanitizer, leaving our hands moisturised and full of different scents. Many of the shops even had sales that made buying more worthwhile. Shopping left us exhausted and we enjoyed a delicious meal of pizza back at the Mercato of Clare Hall.
All in all, our two day trip to Niagara Falls was definitely a highlight of our two week stay at Brescia and it will remain forever in our minds as a sweet memory.

Day 10 -- Goal Setting

Group 1 Samantha Wong 3S (30) The weather of the today was sunny and just perfect for an outing, making our visit to the Kustermans Berry Farm a very pleasant experience. The farm is not only the place where berries grow, but also home to animals such as ponies, pigs, sheeps and more. Our visit began with berry-picking. The blueberries were fresh and large. They looked so juicy that we all couldn’t help packing our plastic boxes with berries.  We then headed to play on the swing, zip-line and even tried to ride on a pony! Riding on a pony was the most exciting activity, and also my favourite part of today. I had never ridden a pony before. I was a bit scared at first since I worried that the horse would lose its balance due to the weight and fell. However, it turned out to be a fun experience. I even took some pictures with the pony. All in all, we enjoyed visiting the farm a lot, and we couldn’t wait to taste our very first pack of self-picked blueberries! G roup 2 Cherian Leu

Day 11 -- Making Change

Group 1 Adeline Wong 3A (30) Today was definitely a fun day! We planned a project on changing our communities. Our group did a project on tackling obesity.  Thoughout the process we came up with different solutions and learnt to apply the SMART goal in our project framing, meaning that the goals we set are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. We also went for the YMCA high ropes.  All of us definitely challenged ourselves to our fullest as we tried to accomplish different tasks at a high spot, such as jumping and leaning back on a high pole with other team members. We learnt to build more trust in others we are cooperating with.   The highlight of the day was definitely the dreamcatcher-making session. We had a great time making our own unique dream catchers and it was a valuable experience for us to learn about accepting our flaws. Group 2 Janice Wong 3L ( 31 ) We went to the YMCA for high ropes today. We challenged ourselves by engaging in two high
